1. Video Asset Management

Users searched a video database of Wisconsin Public Television's Weekend news show by keyword. Results of the search tool are presented as "thumbnail" images identifying specific program segments, timecode, and closed-captioned text. Selected segments can then be viewed using Real Media Player. This demonstration is a model for future Internet2 enabled access of shared video assets and their retrieval at broadband speeds.

As well, producers from Wisconsin Public Television's Digital Innovations Unit demonstrated the encoding, logging, and database creation using tools from Virage, Inc.

http://www.icair.org/

A selection of live and server-based Internet2 video assets can be accessed through this search tool and gateway developed by International Center for Advanced Internet Research at Northwestern University. "Live channels" routed through STARTAP included C-SPAN, the Canadian Parliamentary Channel, and WTIU-TV, from Indiana University.

3. Public Television Video Portal
