Television Future Fund Corporation for Public
Broadcasting

In 1996, at the urging of systemwide task forces, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting created "future funds" for public radio and television, offering strategic assistance and investment funds for projects to increase the system's efficiency and develop new revenue streams. CPB expects to invest $30 to $40 million through these funds during the next three years

The key objective of the Television Future Fund is to promote efforts to increase income and reduce operating expenses of public television stations and to the public television system as a whole. These efforts range in structure from multi-station collaboratives to system-wide research, and to the development and implementation of new businesses emanating from and supporting public television's core mission. To date, nearly 11 million dollars has been invested in 54 projects.
